Lake City Vibe Privacy Policy

Version 2026-10-15-draft

Lake City Vibe is an augmented reality (AR) app for exploring Lake Charles and taking part in local experiences. It is operated by [legal entity name] ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account details. When you sign up: your email address, username, name, password (stored only as a one-way hash) and phone number. We also record when you accepted these terms and which version.

[Location and camera: this section is being finalised (R38) and may change before release.]

Location while you play. The app uses your device's location while it is open to show nearby places on the map and to check that you are at a location when you collect a coin or code there. Your coordinates are sent with that check and used to answer it. We don't store your raw coordinates. We record which places you reach and when, to run the game, and delete it after 90 days.

Camera, for AR. The camera shows AR content in your surroundings. To place content accurately, the app sends camera images to our AR positioning provider, MultiSet, which processes them to work out where your device is and is bound by its terms with us. We don't store these images, and we don't use them to identify you. [MultiSet's retention of these images: to be confirmed (R38).]

Camera, for QR codes. When you scan a QR code, the image is read on your device and isn't sent anywhere.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token and platform (iOS or Android) so we can send you notifications. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.

Sign-in on this device. If you turn on Face ID or a similar option, the app stores a sign-in credential for that device. Your biometric data stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Invites. When you invite a friend, we use the contact details you enter to send them the invitation, and we record that the invite came from you so any invite reward can be applied.

Game activity. The coins you collect, the hunts and experiences you take part in, and the rewards and promotions you redeem.

Error reports and app usage. When something goes wrong, the app sends an error report: the error details, app version, platform, device model and a technical snapshot of the app's state. The app also records usage events, such as app launches, how long start-up took, and which places, offers and hunts you view, so we can find problems and improve the app.

Support requests. If you contact support or report an issue in the app, we keep your message, the contact email you give, and diagnostic details about the app.

How we use it

To run your account and sign you in, to run the game (maps, AR, coin collection, rewards and invites), to send the notifications and emails you've signed up for (such as verification and password reset), to provide support, to keep the service secure and prevent abuse, and to fix problems and improve the app. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

We share data only with providers that run parts of the service for us:

Local businesses and partners taking part in Lake City Vibe see summary statistics (for example, how many people visited or redeemed an offer), not your account details. When a business's staff handle a redemption for you, they see your display name on it. We may also share information if the law requires it. [Confirm the full list of providers and partner reporting.]

Keeping and deleting your data

You can delete your account in the app at any time. When you do, we erase your account and personal data:

The coins you collected and the rewards you redeemed stay only as an anonymous record, with nothing that links them to you, so participating businesses' visit and redemption totals stay correct. We keep that record for up to 7 years. Your coins and rewards can't be recovered: if you sign up again, even with the same email, you start a new account from zero.

Deleted data stays in our encrypted database backups for up to 35 days, until those backups expire. Our service logs can include your account's id (never your name or location) for up to 30 days, and the emails we send you (verification, password reset and invitations) are logged with your email address and the subject for 30 days.

Your choices

Location, camera and notification access can be turned off in your device settings. Some features, such as AR and coin collection, won't work without them.

You can update or delete your account in the app. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data. Contact us to make a request.

Age

Lake City Vibe is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if we learn we have, we delete it. When you create an account, the app asks for your birth month and year: if you're under 18 it doesn't create the account, nothing about your birth date is stored, and you can try again later.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update the version above, and the app asks you to accept the new version.
